8Bitdo the universal wireless Bluetooth adaptor that brings your controllers and gaming devices together
Tired of being restricted by what controller and gamepad you can use with your device?
Want to avoid the lag and restrictions that come with random controller/ wireless setups?
The 8BitDo Bluetooth adapter can connect to Android TV, Raspberry PI, Retrofreak, Switch, Windows, macOS platforms and more.
You can then pair your desired Bluetooth controller to it and experience wireless connectivity with no lag along with motion and rumble features.
If you have a Bluetooth controller then the 8BitDo USB adaptor is worth exploring.
While the 8BitDo controllers are supported, non 8BitDo devices include arcade sticks, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, PS3, PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5.
On the Nintendo side controllers include Wiimote, Wii U Pro, Switch Joy-Con, and Switch Pro.
For a small device the 8BitDo wireless USB adapter does wonders and with upgradeable firmware future updates are supported.
With a compatible controller, 6-axis motion is supported on the Nintendo Switch X-input, D-input, Mac mode, Switch mode using PS4 and PS5 controllers.
Did we mention LAG FREE play :-)
Lastly, 8Bitdo offers "ultimate software" that enables you to configure and finetune every part of your controller. From buttons to triggers, vibration sensitivity, and even pre-programmed combinations!
Ultimate supports Windows 7 and above and macOS 10.13 and above and is compatible with PS5, PS4, Xbox One S/X Bluetooth controllers and Switch Pro.
A few pointers we have come across regarding Nintendo Switch usage
- Ensure that "Pro Controller Wired Communication" is enabled in the "Controller and Sensors" tab in Settings
- Use the bottom side USB port on your Switch
The WiiU pro Controller worked flawlessly
The PS4 controller worked well with motion controls
The new Xbox One Controller refused to pair - could be its own custom wireless protocol.
Xbox 360 controller support has not been tested.
Android retro usage
With Android devices the controllers we have tested have connected as Xbox 360 gamepads. Depending on your gaming setup you may need to map your desired controller. This is the case with RetroArch on our Anbernic 351 range.
If you're intending to use an Xbox controller please check with the latest 8BitDo firmware update.
