The AK2 Plus features upgradable RAM and supports up to a 2TB internal SATA drive, providing considerable flexibility. Equipped with 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD, and pre-installed with Windows 11 Pro, the AK2 delivers solid functionality. Powered by a quad-core Intel Alder Lake N100 processor with a low base power draw of just 6W, the AK2 Plus is well-suited to a broad range of tasks. These include office, web applications, home lab, automation, and retro gaming. Like the SER5 this PC has been tested and is compatible with Linux, and Batocera.

The AK2 Plus offers over 20% performance improvement compared to Intel N5105 and N5095 CPUs. With support for expanding storage via 2.5” SATA SSD/HDD or USB 3.0/2.0 interfaces for mobile hard drives. It also supports Wake On LAN, PXE Boot, RTC Wake, and Auto Power On.

This microcomputer includes Intel UHD Graphics @ 750 MHz for faster image processing and supports 4K UHD video playback. It enables dual display output through 2x 2.0 HDMI ports, enhancing work efficiency and suitability for home entertainment, home office, or conference room environments. Max HDMI output resolution for both ports is 4096 X 2160 @60Hz.

Gameplay and emulation

While the N100 chip isn’t going to be a PS2 emulation beast, for a budget mini PC it’s a pretty decent all-rounder.

You can expect good 3DS, PS1, N64, PSP, and most consoles below that performance grade. Above that GameCube is ok and PS2 titles will be limited.

Of course, there’s a massive library accessible via Steam, including PC gaming goodness and a ton of racing titles — a perfect opportunity to dust off that racing wheel!
