The Anbernic RG35XX Plus delivers the XX H in a Gameboy-style shell.
Since the release of the 35XX H it was only a mater of time till this upgrade made its way to the first 35XX and here it is in the gameboy inspired RG 35XX Plus. So if you’re seeking just that little bit more, here it is.
The upgraded RG35XX, now called the “Plus” comes with a little more power, yet retains its familiar design, however, it has added features such as Wifi and Bluetooth while continuing to sport a 3.5″ IPS display at 640×480 resolution.
Why the RG35XX Plus?
While the 35XX was popular and at a great price point, the community wanted a little more, so now we have the internals of an RG35XX H in the RG35xx Plus. While it can get a bit much with all the RGs, Hs, XXs and so on, the outcome here is that we have a Horizontal and a Vertical console with the same processing power and features. The Plus runs smoothly on a wide array of retro games. While some suggest that the stock firmware could benefit from updates, if you’re looking for more, you can explore alternative firmware options like Batocera, modified stock OS, or the muOS to push your gaming experience further.
Is this Retro gaming console only for kids?
This handheld console is touted as the ideal choice for kids interested in retro gaming. Slightly larger than the Miyou mini, the RG35XX Plus maintains an easy-to-use interface. It comes with most of the features you would need and is pocketable for older kids or adults, all at a very affordable price point.
RG35XX Plus quality
In terms of quality, the RG35XX Plus lives up to expectations, offering the same high-standard finish and components characteristic of Anbernic handhelds. With features like Wifi, Bluetooth, headphone jack, and good battery life, it’s a standout in its price range.
Equipped with 2.4/ 5G WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.2 you can explore endless gaming possibilities. From online to streaming or head-to-head combat, connect your Bluetooth controller and view on your big screen using HDMI. The RG35xx is a Plus for those seeking out more.
Enhanced gameplay
Gaming enthusiasts will find the RG35XX Plus impressive, easily handling arcade and 8-bit classics while providing decent emulation for Dreamcast, N64, and PSP games, albeit with occasional slowdowns depending on game demands. However, for a smoother experience with higher-end consoles, users may want to consider upgrading to a more powerful Anbernic handheld like the RG353 range.
